Questions & Answers
QUESTION: I’m a client/member/student. How do I access the material for the writing group/class/service I registered for?
All you need to do is go to the members’ area and hit the purple LOGIN button to the top right corner of your screen. Once you’re logged in, you can easily access all of your material.
QUESTION: What is the best way to stay in touch with you?
Subscribing to Sparks, my weekly letter that goes out each Sunday morning. Its number-one aim is to get you energized and motivated to create what matters throughout the week. Here is some detailed information on what you’ll receive and how to sign up.
QUESTION: If I join a writing group, how much time do I need for writing?
10-20 minutes a day when there is a writing program going on. We’re all busy folks and have a huge list of things to do and people to take care of every single day. Many of us dedicate about 15 minutes a day to their writing. All writing counts. And everything is progress. You’ill hear those two things over and over again in my community. If you don’t have 10-15 minutes, start with just five minutes a day! 🙂
your writing groups and programs a good fit for a total beginner or an experienced writer?
Yes. We have participants with all sorts of backgrounds and all levels of writing experience. The number-one focus of my writing groups is to bring joy to your writing life, develop a consistent writing practice, find your unmistakable voice, and unleash your words in the company of other women who are fired up to do the same.
QUESTION: I don’t call myself a writer. Can I still join?
Of course! As long as you love writing and want to develop and maintain a writing practice for whatsoever reason (creative expression, self-discovery, publishing your work, expanding your audience, well-being and healing—you name it!) you’ll love and benefit from writing with us.
QUESTION: If I enroll in a writing group, can I write on my own and skip the sharing and commenting bit in the group?
Of course. We have participants who share their writing in the group as well as others who write quietly on their own. Group participation will deepen your experience, but it’s up to you. Even if you write on your own, you’ll still get a ton of value. You’re free to take what you like and need and do just that. We have many introverts among the group (including me) and we understand that writing sometimes needs a deeper kind of quiet and solitude. Just come in and have a taste of our community and writing groups!
QUESTION: Who sees what the participants write and share in the writing groups?
Each program is accessible only by the registered participants and no one else. Only the people enrolled in the writing group or program where you share your writing will see what you post.
QUESTION: How present and accessible are you in the live writing groups and workshops?
Very. This is one of the elements that make my programs different from a multitude of other groups. I’m always present in each and every group (personally—not through assistants or pre-recorded material). I read all the writing you post in our writing space and respond to you. There is an element of active, genuine participation in all of my writing groups. Also, this is a close-knit community filled with many repeat participants. It’s the best place to further your writing especially if you’re an introverted creator. You can read about the experience of past participants here.
QUESTION: Will I get feedback on my writing in your live writing groups?
Each of my writing and storytelling programs has a different aim and context. If a program promises feedback, I will. If it doesn’t, I won’t. That usually has a good reason because feedback is tricky and requires care and good timing. With that said, I always read each and every piece the participants share during our writing groups. Also, if you ask specific questions related to your writing practice, your creative process, or creative business, I’ll always do my best to help as much as I can.
QUESTION: How do we share our writing in the live writing groups?
During each live writing group, we have a secret Facebook group where you’ll be invited to post your writing and read what others share with the group. The Facebook group will be archived one week after the live session ends, but you’ll have easy, forever access to the class material inside the class area even after the live session ends.
QUESTION: Do I have to publish the writing I do in your writing groups?
It’s up to you. However, we value practice, process,
QUESTION: Do you offer refunds?
I’ll be happy to offer you a full refund within 48 hours of your purchase with no questions asked. No refunds are available after 48 hours. If you’re hesitant, please carefully read the sales page of the event you consider joining, read all of this FAQ page, and also the page that lists the testimonials by previous participants so that you make an informed and conscious decision. Then, listen to your gut. If it is not a “hell, yeah!” it’s probably not the right time for you to enroll.
QUESTION: Do you offer scholarships?
5% of what I earn from my programs go to a private scholarship fund I offer to my students and participants discreetly. I only offer partial scholarships to make sure that as many women as possible benefit from this fund. You can contact me by using the form above if you need support. The process is discreet. Only I and the person who receives support know about it.
QUESTION: Are your events, writing groups and community really only for women?
For women and for anyone who identifies as a woman. Not just cis women, but trans women, femme/feminine-identifying genderqueer, and non-binary folks are all welcome. I believe men already have (and have always had) too many opportunities and for getting their voices heard and ideas shared. My work is about helping women’s voices get heard, their ideas
QUESTION: What are the uniting values of your community?
Freedom, creativity, curiosity, authenticity, depth, quiet, compassion, equality, fairness, connection. By registering you accept this rule.
QUESTION: I’m a writing instructor/teacher/guide. I have a concept I believe is a good fit for your community. I would like to offer it as a class or writing group in your school. What should I do?
I’ve hosted other writing teachers and facilitators in my writing community, and they ran fabulous writing groups and programs. I’m always open to meaningful collaborations. Send me a brief but clear, informative email and tell me about your idea. Also, send me your links including your website, blog, social media, writing, etc. so that I can learn enough about you to make a decision.
QUESTION: I’d love to promote your offerings as an affiliate or ambassador. Do you have an affiliate program?
I do, but at this time affiliates/ambassadors can join only by invitation. Send me a brief but clear, informative email. Tell me about your audience, how you plan to promote my groups and programs, and what other products and services you promote to your audience. Also, please send me your links including your website, blog, social media so that I can learn enough about your platform and respond.
QUESTION: Can I interview you?
Please send me an email and tell me about the type and format of the interview you have in mind and the topics you’d like to discuss. Also, send me your links including your website, blog, social media, and past interviews you held with others. etc. I don’t accept all interview requests. I’ll say yes if the timing is right and if your audience is the right fit for my work and values.
